The tsunami went the other direction -- no where near where we are in Bali, Indonesia. The earthquake in Samoa was much too far away to affect us here -- about 4300 miles east of us.
The more recent and more severe earthquake at Padang on the west coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra was relatively close to Bali but on the Indian Ocean side -- about 1100 miles away. We assume that any ocean effects were felt in the western direction. We experienced nothing unusual here on the eastern coast of the island of Bali.
